A recent survey has revealed that compared to the previous year, there are now more UK businesses that are fearful of cyber attacks.
The survey, compiled by Morson Cyber Security found that as many as 60% of smaller sized businesses were worried about cyber crime, while one in ten had found themselves the victim of a security breach over the last year.
As a result, smaller sized businesses are looking to invest more into cyber security in order to protect themselves, something which Mark Howath, Director of Morson Cyber Security, encourages.
Commenting on the findings, he said, “The number and sophistication of cyberattacks is increasing, but they aren’t just targeted to bigger organisations like the NHS and BUPA, of which both suffered major breaches this year. Cyber criminals are turning their attention to smaller companies that increasingly depend on digital technology to grow and often lack the resources to protect themselves, meaning they face threats from more angles.”

“Businesses need to work smarter to protect themselves from the risks and we’re working hard to educate SMEs and provide them with the best cyber security managed services to safeguard their operations.”
This news might also create further job opportunities for IT contractors with cyber security skills, as more businesses will look to hire professionals to protect themselves from any potential cyber attacks.
