With the pandemic impacting our everyday lives over the last couple of years, including the way in which we work, attitudes towards the daily commute have changed.
According to the Totaljobs research, this seems to be particularly so among professionals based in the capital.
For example, Londoners’ dislike of their daily commutes has resulted in over three-quarters (76%) admitting that they would be willing to quit over it. This figure drops to 54% when looking at workers nationwide.
Interestingly, this reluctance to commute is higher among young workers – 70% of both Gen Z and Millennials are prepared to quit their job if their commute cannot fit their lifestyles.

Email JaimeThe survey of 2,000 UK workers did find that 49% are actually looking forward to physically returning to their place of work, but even for these people, they are still looking at reducing the amount of time they spend commuting.
And, although 58% of professionals say that their employer has proposed new ways of working, not all businesses can offer flexibility, and there are many who want to bring their staff together again.
However, 25% of workers said that they would quit if they were forced to return against their wishes.
