HMRC data shows that in February more than one million people took advantage of the extra time given to file their tax returns.
According to the findings, about 12.2 million customers were expected to file a return for the 2020/21 tax year and more than 11.3 million customers submitted theirs by the 28th of February.
Now, taxpayers have until the 1st of April to either pay their outstanding bill or set up a Time to Pay arrangement to avoid a late payment penalty.
