A new platform has been launched to help small and medium-sized businesses connect with early-career candidates for tech roles.
SMEs need help attracting tech talent
SMEs play an important role in the UK tech skills landscape; however, they are often unable to attract the right tech talent.
This is perhaps due to the majority of new graduates applying for roles in large tech firms instead.
A new report published by the Department for Education, SME Skills Horizon: 2025, revealed that as many as nine in ten SMEs in England say they’ve suffered skills gaps. This is most commonly seen at entry level (32%) and in specialist roles (29%).

‘Tech Talent Bridge’
In order to help SMEs tackle this recruitment challenge and connect with skilled early-career candidates, TechSkills and Day One have launched ‘Tech Talent Bridge’.
This new platform will enable employers to tap into a wider talent pool, giving both early-career talent and smaller-sized businesses better opportunities.
SMEs will be able to recruit faster and more effectively, while early-career applicants will have better access to a fairer route into the tech sector.
SMEs who are interested in joining can create a free account on the Day One Work website, where they can post job roles and connect with pre-verified tech candidates.
