With the self-assessment deadline looming for those who file online, HMRC is currently sending out reminders to ensure people are including any covid grants to their tax return.
The taxable grants and payments from the covid-19 support schemes include:
- Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS)
- Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS)
- Self-isolation payments
- Local authority grants
- Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
From the first week of November, HMRC have been contacting those who have claimed the first, second and/or third SEISS grants, but who have either not yet filed their tax return, or who have filed their self-assessment but have not completed the self-employment or partnership pages.
