Recent findings show that since the pandemic started, 22% of businesses have made changes to their employees’ terms and conditions of employment.
The research, compiled by the CIPD, revealed that the most common changes to contracts included:
- Location of work (cited by 49%)
- Hours of work (47%)
- Pay levels (44%)
- Redundancy/terms pay (22%)
- Access to enhanced contractual entitlements/incentives (20%)
The survey of 2,000 employers did find that not all contract changes between March 2020 and July 2021 were negative, for example with regards to pay levels 50% improved pay, while 38% reduced pay.
Looking at changes to working hours, 44% of employers reduced working hours compared to 24% of those who increased them.
