Latest research has revealed that nearly 80% of UK employees say they have regrets about career choices or work decisions.

Just 21% of the 2000 workers surveyed said they didn’t have any regrets at all.

Mid-Career Regrets

The Ciphr report found that it was those mid-way into their careers (35-44-year-olds) who are the most likely to report work-related regrets, with 87% admitting to feeling this way.

As a comparison, this figure sits at 82% for those under 35 and 75% for those aged over 45.

Common Career Regrets

The top career regret for 17% of workers is dwelling on or worrying about a work situation or conversation that they can’t change.

Younger workers (18-24-year-olds) are more likely to have these specific regrets, with 24% saying they regret worrying or stressing about unchangeable events or conversations.

Just 21% of 25-44-year-olds and 14% of workers over 45 agree with this.
