New research has revealed that Gen Zs are the UK’s biggest entrepreneurs, with half of this generation having started up their own business or side hustle.
Young Entrepreneurs Driven by Flexibility
According to the poll of 2,000 adults, having better flexibility in their career is the main reason for Gen Zs choosing the self-employed route.
Other key factors included pursuing a dream (cited by 18%) and using their business to help the planet (12%).
The AXA UK report found that in comparison, just 29% of Boomers and 26% of Generation X have set up their own business or side hustle.

The reasons given for this were to check that it was an original idea (57%) and to find out what steps to take to start the venture (55%).
Another 43% said that they went to AI first because they believed they could rely on it to keep a secret.
